HYDROPLAST
Epoxy glazing for containers of drinking water.
|
I FIELDS OF APPLICATION HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER are indicated for the coating of surfaces designed to come into contact with drinking water as in plants for the conditioning of drinking water, for water which contains chlorine free of ozone, tanks of piezometric towers, collecting tanks etc. The film of HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER has undergone tests required by regulations in force for coatings which come into contact with drinking water. Law 21/03/73 Suppl. G.U. n. 104 of 20/04/73 and subsequent. Tab. I/a and Ib). Other applications can be found in the painting of parts in contact with foodstuffs in machines such as hoppers, surge tanks and kneading machines.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION HYDROPLAST is an epoxy product, containing no solvents, which is used to obtain very thick coatings with a limited number of coats. HYDROPLAST is made up of inorganic pigments dispersed in liquid epoxy resins which harden by reaction with an aromatic aliphatic-cycle adduct (S HARDENER). The film which is obtained makes the support impermeable, protects it from abrasion, attacks by chemical agents and makes the cleaning of the walls easier reducing the formation of crusts.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
USE ON CONCRETE OR PLASTER
Preparation of the support:
1) Remove powdery parts or parts not perfectly anchored by brushing. In the case of surfaces in bad conditions, proceed with sandblasting or chiselling until revealing a healthy surface.
2) Eliminate any traces of dust by means of oil-free compressed air.
3) Proceed with the application of a coat of undercoat and of consolidation with Epoxidro 03 + E Hardener (see technical sheet).
4) When necessary, fill the irregularities of the support with Epostuc D45 + M9 Hardener (see technical sheet).
5) 12-24 hours after the undercoating or filling, apply a coat of HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER prepared following the procedure as in the paragraph 'preparation of the mixture'.
6) 12-24 hours after the first coat apply a second coat of HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER.
USE ON IRON, STEEL, OR METAL SURFACES IN GENERAL Preparation of the support;
1) Remove any traces of rust, calamine, old paint, grease etc... through brushing or better through sandblasting with grade Sa 2.5 (Norme Svenk Standart SIS).
2) Application of I or 2 coats of HYDROPLAST AND S HARDENER prepared as specified in the paragraph 'preparation of the mixture'.
PREPARATION OF THE MIXTURE HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER
To the container of HYDROPLAST add all of the S HARDENER, mix thoroughly with spatula or helical agitator. The packagings are already predisposed to the following ratios.
HYDROPLAST :100 parts in weight
S HARDENER : 30 parts in weight
After mixing HYDROPLAST with S HARDENER the hardening reaction begins which is faster the higher the temperature of the products and the quantity of mixture prepared. At a temperature of 20°C, a mass of 19.5 Kg of mixture should be applied within 30 minutes. At a temperature lower than 5°C there will be no hardening reaction. In the case of particularly cold temperatures or for the need of more fluidity, warm HYDROPLAST by immersion in warm water at a temperature of 40-50°C before adding S HARDENER. However take into account that the useful application time will be further reduced. Optimal results of the coating are obtained by applying the mixture without diluting. Whenever more fluidity is desired without resorting to warming, dilute with ethyl alcohol or appropriate thinner A to a maximum of 11. every 10 Kg of mixture. However take into account that diluting deteriorates the chemical and physical properties and causes the loss of the gloss finish in the coating.
APPLICATION OF THE MIXTURE HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER
HYDROPLAST + S HARDENER can be applied with air-less gun, or with brush or roller. During the application and for 2 days after, the temperature of the support should remain between 10°C and 40°C; the relative humidity should not exceed 85%. In any case, during the application the support should be perfectly dry and there should be a total absence of condensate.
- Average thickness per coat : 150-200 microns
- Average practical yield: 1.8-2 m3/Kg \ '
- Drying at 25°C: dust dry: 12 hours :
complete : 24 hours
- Use of the article: after 4-6 days
Immediately after the application clean the tools, by washing them with ethyl alcohol or TM Thinner.
