TAREPOX SS
Two-component paint based on coal-tar and epoxy resins lor coatings resistant to both acid and alkaline aqueous solutions
|
GENERAL DESCRIPTION TAREPOX SS is a coal-tar epoxy product, free of solvents which is used to obtain very thick coatings with a limited number of coats. TAREPOX SS is made up of liquid epoxy resins free of solvents, coal-tar and appropriate aggregates, it hardens by reaction with an epoxy polyamide adduct (SE HARDENER). The coatings obtained are exceptionally resistant to both acid and alkaline aqueous solutions. These features derive from the typical properties of epoxy resins with coal-tar additives and from the fact that, being free of solvents, the coating is practically free of pores. FIELDS OF APPLICATION TAREPOX SS + SE HARDENER are particularly indicated for the protection of metal or concrete surfaces whenever an optimal protection against corrosion, without particular needs for colour, is required. For example in depuration plants both for domestic and industrial waters, port installations, the coating of tanks or artefacts which should remain underground, biogas plants etc. FEATURES OF THE PRODUCTS AT THE ORIGIN TAREPOX SS:

PACKAGINGS
STORAGE TAREPOX SS + HARDENER will be ruined by freezing Store at a temperature between 10°C and 40°C for no longer than one year. METHOD OF APPLICATION Preparation of the support USE ON CONCRETE OR PLASTER 1) Remove powdery parts or parts not perfectly anchored by brushing. In the case of surfaces in bad conditions, proceed with sandblasting or chiselling until revealing a healthy surface. 2) Eliminate any traces of dust ideally with the help of a vacuum cleaner. 3) Proceed with the application of a coat of undercoat and of consolidation with EPOXIDRO 03 + E HARDENER (see technical sheet). TAREPOX SS + HARDENER can be applied also directly on the concrete support. 4) When necessary, fill the irregularities of the support with Epostuc D45 S + PGF Hardener (see technical sheet). 5) 12-48 hours after the undercoating or filling, apply a coat of TAREPOX SS + SE HARDENER prepared following the procedure as in the paragraph 'preparation of the mixture'. 6) 12-48 hours after the first coat apply a finishing coat of TAREPOX SS + HARDENER |
USE ON IRON, STEEL, OR METAL SURFACES IN GENERAL
1) Remove any traces of rust, calamine, old paint, grease, etc. through brushing or better through sandblasting with grade Sa 2.5 (Norme SvenkStandartSIS).
2) Apply a coat of TAREPOX SS + HARDENER prepared as specified in the paragraph 'preparation of the mixture'.
3) Apply another coat of POLIEPOX 05 + S HARDENER as required.
PREPARATION OF THE MIXTURE
To the container of TAREPOX SS add all of the contents of the bucket of Hardener, mix thoroughly with spatula or helical agitator. The packagings are already predisposed to the following ratios.

After mixing TAREPOX SS with the HARDENER the hardening reaction begins which is faster the higher the temperature of the products and the quantity of mixture prepared. At a temperature of 20°C, a mass of 16.8 Kg of mixture should be applied within 45 minutes. At a temperature lower than 5°C there will be no hardening reaction. Whenever more fluidity is desired dilute the mixture with TM Thinners. However take into account that diluting deteriorates the chemical and physical properties of the coating.
APPLICATION OF THE MIXTURE
TAREPOX SS + HARDENER can be applied with air-less gun, or with brush or roller. (Immediately after the application clean the tools, by washing them with TM Thinner). During the application and for 2 days after, the temperature of the support should remain between 5°C and 40°C; the relative humidity should not exceed 85%. In any case, during the application the support should be perfectly dry and there should be a total absence of condensate.
