Single-component epoxy resins: these resins are in solid form, are easily meltable when hot and can be made liquid by solubilization in solvents. To obtain the best levels of resistance to wear, temperature and atmospheric agents, they are usually added and combined with latent hardeners. The polymerization of single-component epoxy resins occurs when hot with subsequent cooling. This process forms a solid product with high chemical, thermal and mechanical resistance.
Two-component epoxy resins: they are in liquid form and can catalyse at room temperature through a reaction known as “induced isothermal nature” by means of the addition of hardeners with amine and/or polyamide functionality.
